Amanda Owen (she/her)

Born in London, Amanda toured Australia in 1991 for the first time with her circus theatre company 'Skin and Blisters'. In 1993, she came back here to tour to Melbourne Comedy Festival, Sydney Opera House and Western Australia with Trestle Theatre Company’s show 'State of Bewilderment' which was based on Michael Leunig’s cartoons.

After coming back to Australia in 1996, Amanda worked as the Head Trainer at the Women’s Circus in Footscray. She co-created her one woman show 'Body - Celebration of the Machine’ with director, Donna Jackson, for La Mama, the Edinburgh Festival, as part of a UK tour and Sydney Opera House for the 2002 Gay Games cultural festival.

She semi-retired from performing, becoming a yoga teacher and yoga therapist but performed with a goup of improvisers in a show Crate Women curated by Catherine Magill for the Melbourne Fringe in 2024 and now she is Myrt!

​She loves to learn Sanskrit, she plays bass and sax in a band 'The Honeybees’, and used to be an acrobat.
